Standing Up for Rural Healthcare: Advocating for Our Community in Washington

At Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center, our mission extends far beyond hospital walls. This week, that mission took us all the way to our nation’s capital as we met with federal legislators to advocate for rural healthcare—on behalf of Liberty County and every patient who deserves access to quality care close to home.

With the support of the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals (TORCH), we joined hospital leaders from across the state to raise awareness about the unique challenges facing rural providers. From workforce shortages to reimbursement struggles, rural hospitals are fighting hard to stay open and serve communities that might otherwise be left behind.

We’re incredibly thankful to the offices of Senator Ted Cruz, Representative Randy Weber, Representative Lance Gooden, Representative Pete Sessions, Representative Brian Babin, Representative Michael McCaul, and Representative John Carter for taking time to meet with us. Their willingness to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and engage in real conversations gives us hope for progress and partnership.

As your local hospital, we’re proud to be a voice for Liberty County in these important discussions. We believe that healthcare shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code—and we’ll continue to work hard to protect access, equity, and care for every neighbor we serve.

Thank you for trusting us with your care, and thank you for letting us represent you.
